Moray East Project 10

Morray East Windfarm Jackets

Smulders in a joint venture with GeoSea, a subsidiary of DEME, were awarded the Moray Offshore Windfarm East contract as part of the Moray East wind farm construction project off the north-eastern coast of Scotland.

The project covered the fabrication of each 85 metres high 1,000 tonne jacket. A total of produce 55 foundations were produced and assembled at the Smulders Projects UK yard in the United Kingdom and were then transported and installed offshore by GeoSea.

The 950 MW capacity wind farm project will cover 295 sq. kilometres and is expected to supply 950,000 households with electricity.

Smulders chose RSL to provide Dimensional control and survey assistance throughout the project. Numerous Dimensional control survey teams from RSL worked across all shifts to ensure that Smulders had 100%-Dimensional control cover. Every stage of the Jacket foundation fabrication was covered by our Dimensional control services, such as pre & post weld surveys of all components, setting out of jacket lay down positions and full as-built surveys of final fabricated jackets. RSL were also asked by Smulders to carry out flange survey flatness/verification checks.
